The Brandon School District is currently working on combining the best of the live classroom experience with the best of the online world into a series of blended learning classes. In a blended environment, a class may combine times when the entire class is together working on something or just a portion of the class is there to work in a more intimate setting.
Think of a blended learning environment as having kids do what they can do alone (reading, typing a paper, or recording a presentation) at home while having them do what works best in school (peer-editing papers, group discussions, and live presentations) in the classroom. It's all about maximizing efficiency and respecting everyone's time, and that is what blended learning done well can do. Stay tuned for the first Brandon blended offerings.
